Pinguicula 'Sethos' is a hybrid of Pinguicula ehlersiae and Pinguicula moranensis. Pinguicula 'Sethos' was registered as a cultivar until 1998 by A. Slack but was created by H. Weiner in 1981. You are going to get a range of green to pink with this cultivar. It's green when exposed to lower light and can turn a light pink when exposed to intense light.

Sethos are a great starter carnivorous plant due to their wide range of tolerance and not needing any kind of winter dormancy. When they are exposed to less light and colder temperatures, they may go into a succulent stage where the leaves grow smaller.

Your 'Sethos" ping will arrive somewhere between 1 and 2 inches but they can get as big as 3-4 inches across. They do a great job of catching small insects like gnats and fruit flies, many people like to put them in a kitchen or bathroom window to help control these insects.

In the spring and fall the 'Sethos' will produce bright pink flowers. They do a little better when humidity is at 50% or above, but can survive in even lower humidity levels. All of the 'Sethos' I grow are propagated from leaf pullings.

All pings are shipped bare root in a small plastic container. You may add soil and a planter as add ons before checking out.

I do have some care tips below for Pings. If you want to watch a video that covers, separating, repotting and beginner care information, you can check out the video below!

Pinguicula Mexican Butterwort

Plant Size  Will arrive between 1 to 2 inches. Mature pings can grow to 3 to 4 inches.
Pinguicula Care

Light - Sunny Windowsill or grow lights. Depending on strength of grow light, they should get 4 to 8 hours of light a day. They do not do well outside in full hot sun more suited for a window sill or under a grow light indoors.

Substrate - Peat Moss, Sand, Crushed Glass, Perlite mix. You can use a mix of peat moss, sand and perlite, but it's not ideal. Substrate needs to be well draining, ping should not sit in boggy conditions as they are subject to rot. You can add on my pinguicula substrate mix as an add on or buy it separately.

Water - RO, Distilled, Rain water should be used. Tap water with high dissolved solids can kill pings over time. Make sure to keep pings wet most of the time during growing season. Pings will do okay if you let the dry out a little bit between waterings. I like to let the top layer of substrate dry out, but want to make sure the roots have access to water. Don't let them sit in water or boggy conditions frequently as they are subject to rot. Water can be reduced during the succulent stage.

Humidity - Pings can thrive in a wide range of humidity. Anything from 20% to 90%. Perfect humidity would be around 50%.

Temperature - 55 to 85 Degrees F.

Dormancy - These do not need a dormancy period. However, if exposed to colder temperatures and reduced photo periods, they will go into what's called a succulent stage. Growth will slow way down, the leaves will be smaller and stunted. Water should be greatly reduced during this period.

Shipping

I ship live plants on Mondays and Wednesday to avoid the weekend cutoff. They will come bare root in a small plastic container surrounded by moist paper towels. If shipping during the colder winter months, it's strongly recommended that you add a heat pack to keep the plant warm. Heat packs are available as an add on. Please note, returns requested for plants that were shipped in the winter without a heat pack may not be accepted.

If plants arrive in poor health or dead, we will be happy to either issue a refund or a replacement, please note that replacements are subject to availability. In order to be eligible for a return or refund, please take photos and email us within 24 hours upon receipt. i should have waited for there to be reviews posted
Format: Kindle
I'm being more generous than I should because this is a debut novel i downloaded this book because i like why choose and band romances i figured that it wouldn't take too long to get back to where the prologue was because the prologue seemed to be less than a day before they met the FMC and the MMCs don't meet til 60 % of the way in which for a Romance novel kinda hard for the relationship to develop or for there to be plot beyond them just meeting in a way where the FMC really lacks agency a lot of early plot and character things are forgotten about after they met it's almost as if the last third of the book was written first and then they went back to write backstory separately but forgot there needs to be a plot i get wanting to have background on the characters, but there has to be a way to do it without constant time jumps and no plot progression. Tessa's story jumps around a week lead up so much also the band aspect is very much an afterthought in the novel Spoilers-- one of the MMCs is openly pan and one of them has been dealing with a bi awakening but being somewhat defensive about it and once Tessa arrives that gets forgotten about til the epilogue and even then doesn't actually confront his sexuality the wrap up of the church hiding her name is tied up with a quick sentence, but no real consequences for anyone i honestly thought she forgot about family pack IRS deal until the final chapter and that gets resolved in an unsatisfying way the pack is upset that Tessa gets viewed as an object and tricked into the contract but has no interest in making the company's wrongdoings public or trying to prevent this from happening to other omegas tessa goes over a lot of struggles of homelessness but she only thinks about food waste once after joining the pack -- you'd think she'd use her newfound wealth and power to help other homeless individuals, especially youths and omegas. even a little side note to say that a portion of tour proceeds or her family fortune would go towards public food pantries and shelters would've done something to connect her beginning character to the end character

BORING and too long
Format: Kindle
I could not believe how wordy and boring this book was. No spice at all. Slow burn is really a NO burn. Almost DNF and now I’m sorry I stuck with it. 500 pages could ave been 150 and it would have been more than enough. I highly doubt not recommend this work of yuck.

Still 4 stars
Format: Kindle
A little to much before and to much dive into the days, months before, but I still kept reading. Maybe because of that you could read about them all. I just couldn't put this book in my to read another day list. I just wanted to know what happens to them.

Promising but not without issues
Format: Kindle
First off, the FMC and the pack don't meet until about 60% of the way through. That's just way too late honestly. I can appreciate the backstory of the band and the FMC, but I skimmed at times wondering when they'd meet. I did like the writing and premise but I thought the execution needed a lot of work. The characters were pretty well developed, but they didn't spend that much time on the page together, so I thought that led to the story suffering. I will give her another shot, as I think the writing has promise... It just didn't come all together in a way that I could wholeheartedly recommend.
