Grape Hyacinth - Muscari armeniacum

A welcome splash of blue in early spring when little else has emerged, these ornamental perennials are reliably cold hardy.  Gently self-seeding when happy, naturalizing in almost any soil type. Low-maintenance plants that deliver big-time results.

Perennial in USDA zones 3-8, ornamental 1-3 racemes with dense clusters of urn-shaped florets that resemble a mini cluster of grapes, growing 6-8” tall, vivid blue to deep purple.  Blooms in April-May for about 3 weeks.

Prefers lean, well-draining soil, where it’s neither too wet or too dry. After flowering they require no feeding and little watering. Overly rich soil produces more foliage and less flowers.  These bulbs don’t fare well if allowed to sit in water over winter.

Sow outside: in the fall. Seeds need a cold period to germinate.
Sow inside:  possible, but not recommended. Seeds need stratification to germinate
Seed depth: 4-5”
Seed spacing: 1”

Sow seeds at any time, covering them very thinly with compost or grit, keeping the seed pot in a cool, well-lit spot outdoors. Artificial heat is not needed and can prevent germination so be very patient as many species will only germinate in the spring after chilling or freezing in the moist seed pot in the winter.

Care: Leaves die back and wither after setting seeds, and plants go dormant in the summer.  Pruning and fertilizing is unnecessary.

Transplanting: small bulbs can dry out easier than bigger ones, plant early in the fall so they get enough moisture. In beds and containers, lift and divide clumps every 3-5 years, or as needed to prevent crowding and rejuvenate clusters.Loosen soil around the edges of plants. Lift bulbs up from below.  Gently separate bulbs and replant the largest ones.

Finally!
Size: 2.5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have been looking for a sunscreen that does not breaks me out or irritate my eyes and this was perfect. I wash my face in the morning and I put this sunscreen on. I don't need to use moisturizer since this is enough. It does leave my skin glowy which I like but not greasy. I notice even my dark spots are fading but because I do use this everyday. My skin is tan and it does not leave a white cast. I love it. If you have acne prone skin, oily and sensitive give this a try.

Finally! An SPF Hubby will wear!
Size: 2.5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I've bought my husband at least a dozen SPFs--everything from drugstore to premium brands--and he won't wear any of them. He's 64 years old with oily, extremely sensitive skin (rosacea and dermatitis), and a tendency to sweat a lot in the summer heat, as he's very active. As for SPF, he hates the white cast, how heavy it feels on his skin, and how his eyes burn when he sweats and the SPF gets in them. But I keep trying. Since Eucerin was the only SPF I was able to tolerate after radiation, I tried this one for him. It's the only one he's liked. There's some white cast initially but it settles quickly. He says the lotion doesn't feel heavy, hasn't caused any irritation or breakouts, and doesn't bother his eyes either. He actually wears this one!!! I'm thrilled! Thank you, Eucerin!

Go-To for Reef-Safe & Light-Weight Sunscreen
Style: SPF 50 Roll On, Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Favorite sunblock to travel with. Appreciate the simplicity of it, and the fact that it rolls on and rubs in smooth. Of course the iconic scent is also a plus.

Great choice
Style: SPF 50 Roll On, Size: 3 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
After I suffered a second-degree burn from steam, I was told by my doctor that I would have to keep my new fresh skin sun-blocked for up to a year to avoid any scarring or hyper pigmentation. This has been a great selection as it is a roll-on, Which helps a lot with preventing messes that can happen with traditional sunblock bottles. I also like that it is easy to travel with, and the fact that it is zinc based.
