Description

Our newest passion at Airplantman is a fresh take on the traditional Japanese bonsai technique of Kokedama. Loosely translated ‘koke’ means moss and ‘dama’ means ball—a planting trend that has been gaining in popularity around the world in the last 30 years. At Airplantman we’re all for easy plant care, and keeping the moss used in traditional Kokedama moist, green and happy in the warm, dry climate of a home (or outside in Los Angeles where we are based!) was just too much fuss. Our search began for a natural, durable material, with a soft but consistent texture, that was low maintenance, and good for plants. Enter the world’s most ancient textile: felt. Felting involves agitating wool fibers until they miraculously and sturdily bind together. The resulting material retains water (hello easy plant care!), is resilient, and resists bacteria and microbe growth. A lot of testing, research, and experimenting later, we are proud to share our handmade AirplantmanKokedama!

If you order AirplantmanKokedama with a plant, we’ll include a hand-picked epiphytic plant. Epiphytic plants are often found alongside air plants in the wild, and while they cannot survive with no soil like air plants, they do require much less rootspace than an average terrestrial plant to thrive making then particularly well suited to kokedama! If you plan to purchase your own plant separately, a recommendation and one of our new favorites is rhipsalis, a tropical epiphytic cactus that grows in dim dry conditions well suited to indoors.

Color

Various, dyed felted wool. Every hand-made AirplantmanKokedama is 100% unique and color combinations will vary. We’ll do our best to accommodate requests if added in notes but cannot guarantee the color of your order.

Materials

Hand-made from 100% hand-felted wool. Wool is absorbent, retains water, has good elasticity and resiliency as well as antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. But because wool is a natural material, some change in coloration or texture is to be expected over time. Warm water can be used to spot clean wool as needed.

Plant and Potting Mix

All AirplantmanKokedama sizes are shipped with our custom planting mix (which increases water absorption and decreases toxins/odors!). If you purchase the AirplantmanKokedama with a plant included, the included species will vary. We’ll do our best to accommodate requests if added in notes.

Plant Care

In general it is best to let your AirplantmanKokedama completely dry between waterings to avoid any problems with mold. When your AirplantmanKokedama is dry to the touch and feels lighter when you pick it up, it’s a good time to water. Pull the felt back a bit where it meets the plant and gently pour a little bit of water at a time into our special low-compact but water absorbing potting mix.  The amount of light and water an epiphytic plant requires will vary by species—succulent/cacti-like epiphytics want more light and fern-like epiphytics want less. It can take patience to find the right light conditions for your AirplantmanKokedama—move it around until you find the best spot!

Fantastic keyboard
I did a lot of research before choosing this keyboard, and man am I glad I got it! The split is great, very comfortable. The arch is minimal, but it does the job. I also really like this scissor-switch technology, no more backspacing to fix a key that didn't register the first time! The built-in wrist rest is also really nice. I type a lot for work, and at a rate of 55 WPM. The keyboard gives just the right amount of feedback, and the keys are not mushy at all. It's also a very good looking keyboard, and is very responsive. I have heard some people mention (not just on this keyboard) that they have some lag/delay with their typing. I would bet the farm that they have plugged the receiver into a USB hub. If you're going to do that, then get yourself a USB extension cable, because the hub will cause interference with ANY wireless dongle you plug into it. Just a foot or so of distance from the hub will alleviate that. I found that out with my prior Logitech keyboard, after lots of searching around for what the cause could be. The ONLY thing I would improve is fairly minor: It does not have dedicated keys for Page Up/Down, Home, or End. You need to hold down the function key and use the corresponding arrow key for those functions. Not even remotely a deal breaker, this keyboard is fantastic in every other aspect.

Great Keyboard & Excellent Customer Service
I’ve been using this keyboard for almost 3 years and it has worked great for me the entire time. Comfortable, reliable, and perfect for long hours of work. The customer service was also great — very responsive, helpful, and professional throughout the process. Very happy with the product overall and would definitely recommend it.

Soft keyboards ( updated)
The keys fell off very easily after only 2.5 months of use. It is a nice and smooth keyboard. I like it, but it didn't last even 3 months. I am trying to get it repaired by them since it was so recent that I got it- I will update this review later once I hear from the manufacturer. This is an update to my original post. I am extremely impressed with the quality of customer service and how fast they addressed my concerns regarding the product and they honestly back up their product. Not only did they respond fast, but they also replace my keyboard. Not just fix it, replaced the whole thing and it is also backed by their manufacturer warranty. I’m so happy and love that I get to have my keyboard back to use for hopefully a lot longer this time. It truly is a comfort keyboard and I love how smooth the keys feel when typing for long periods of time. Thanks guys for the prompt response! Today 3/27/2026 I received my brand new keyboard to replaced the one with the broken keys and I’m so happy to it back again and fully working thanks guys for the great customer service. Truly appreciate it.

Great keyboard at the right price
I bought this to replace my old Logi Ergo K860. I like the idea of curved keyboard. But the distance between my left and right hands on Ergo K860 was bothering me ever since I bought it 5 years ago. I would say I never got used to it. The Ergo started to act up one day with one key F not working properly. I tried to fix it and considered getting another one, then I saw this keyboard with a much better price. So I took the chance and went with this cheaper option. I like this one better than Ergo for the following reason: 1. The layout is more comfortable. Yes, it took me a while to get used to it like I would with any keyboard. I don't have to twist my wrists to reach any keys. 2. Keys are not too loud. It's not going to silent, but better than Ergo. 3. Battery life is great. I make a living by typing my keyboard. I only charged this keyboard once so far (4 months). 4. The price is great for what I got.

Good keyboard, some auxiliary keys are moved from where I was used to
I've only been using this for a day, so I can't speak about battery life. It is rechargeable, and it has an on-off switch for saving the battery when I'm not using it, so I don't know what more I could ask for on that front. Likes: the main keyboard is definitely ergonomic and feels comfortable; the key action is not silent, which I actually like, and the scissor action switches underneath the keys feels good to me; the keyboard is about 1.5" narrower than my previous keyboard (Logitech Ergo K860) because the number pad is right next to the regular part of the keyboard, and the usual keys in between have been rearranged. Most of these changes will just require the user to get used to the new positions. However, the Home, End, Pgup and Pgdn keys are now Function keys, piggybacking on the arrow keys, and that may cause more trouble for people who use those a lot (I don't, so I don't mind it). Dislikes: experience has shown me that dust and crud get into the space between the wrist pad and the rest of the keyboard. On my old keyboard, I could remove the wrist pad using some tiny screws in the back, and take the pad out for thorough cleaning. With this keyboard I won't be able to do that, so time will tell how aggravating that will be. Maybe I'll have to take it down to my shop and blow out the crud with the air compressor (joking, probably not a good idea). Overall, not quite 5 stars, but close. If it lasts better than the Logitech, I may come back and put in that last star. Update: It has lasted about 20 months, and I'm going to have to replace it. I may buy another one, 20 months is pretty good for the amount of use I have gotten out of it, but I'm going to search to see if anything new and better is around. Symptoms seem to indicate that the rechargeable battery is not taking a charge any more. The keyboard works find when it is plugged in, but when I unplug it, after a few minutes it goes wacky.
