Rare late Edwardian black silk Robe de Style evening dress inspired by the great Jeanne Lanvin. The defining feature of this elegant dress are the panniers (hip hoops) at the hips. Panniers rested on the hips and jutted outward giving the skirt an exaggerated fullness that allowed the wearer to move freely and dance. This hips and sleeves are both accented with sheer metallic lace and ribbon work embroidery. The dress has an interior waist stay and closes with a series of hook and eye closures. The skirt has a longer interior skirt, the top is backed in a layer of netting. 

It is rare to come across a Robe de Style and even rarer to find one in such immaculate condition. Every piece of this dress is in excellent condition, the only sign of wear is some dye bleed on one underarm only visible on the inside of the dress.

Condition: Excellent, remarkably good for age with little sign of wear. The silk is strong and sturdy. The only sign of wear is one underarm area on the interior of the dress wear the dye has bled. See close-up picture.
